The Spring Band program provides its students a variety of performing experiences including marching band, concert band, jazz ensemble, chamber ensembles, winter guard, and PRISM!, an indoor music-in-motion production patterned after BLAST! The instrumental music curriculum includes four different levels of concert band with an optional Honors component for members of the Wind Ensemble. Other offerings include AP music theory, applied music, color guard, and winter guard. Individuals also participate in the school musical, TMEA All-Region and All-State auditions, solo recitals, chamber music recitals, and occasional performances with the award winning Spring High School Choir. A comprehensive private lesson program combined with bi-weekly master classes on individual instruments provide students a unique opportunity to learn from instrumental specialists some of whom perform with Houston Symphony and Houston Ballet Orchestra. In recent years several Spring Band alumni have been participating in music programs at the University of Houston, the University of Texas, Sam Houston State, Baylor, Texas Christian University, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Tech, Texas A & M, Oklahoma State, and other local universities including Lone Star College and Blinn in Brenham. The concert bands are consistent UIL Sweepstakes and "best-in-class" winners at festivals in Texas, Florida, and Washington, DC. Since 1990, Spring has placed in the top 5 of the TMEA Honor Band competition (held every other year) on six different occasions under four different directors. Previous Midwest Clinic performance have occurred in 2008, 1999, 1994, 1980, and Percussion Ensemble in 2009. The Jazz Ensemble traveled to Midwest Clinic in in Chicago in December 2010. The band also performed at the 2005 BOA National Concert Band Festival under the direction of Mark Edenfield. The band received the prestigious Sudler Flag of Honor in 1994 from the John Philip Sousa Foundation. The marching band has been a participant in the UIL State Marching Contest in 2006, 2008, and 2010 and a finalist at the BOA Houston Regional in 2007, 2008, and 2010. They placed seventh at the 2009 and 2010 BOA San Antonio Super Regional. The marching band was UIL State Champion (a contest held in even-number years) in 1992 and 1994, runner-up in 1998, fourth in 2000, and ninth in 2010. They were Bands of America Grand National Champion in 1993. Spring also competed at BOA Grand Nationals in November, 2011.
